Overview

EEPC India, the Engineering Export Promotion Council, was set up in 1955 under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to promote the export of engineering goods and related products. Engineering exports have grown from a few million dollars in the 1950s to more than a hundred billion dollars a year, and the Council issues the Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) that engineering exporters need for Foreign Trade Policy benefits.

The Council's promotional work is what a new exporter needs most: the Indian Engineering Exhibition (INDEE) held abroad, buyer-seller meets, India pavilions at international trade fairs, and the International Engineering Sourcing Show (IESS) in India. Its initiatives cover standards and certification, technology, Brand India Engineering and product catalogues that present Indian suppliers to overseas buyers.

EEPC India fixes export targets with the Foreign Trade Policy, acts as the interface between exporters and government, organises promotional activities with Market Development Assistance, facilitates participation in exhibitions, circulates trade enquiries, tenders, market and country reports and trade statistics, publicises Indian capability through campaigns and publications, and represents exporters in policy consultations.

Members are grouped into product panels — 42 panels in all, of which 38 are active — covering iron and steel, non-ferrous metals, machinery and equipment, auto components, electrical equipment, renewable energy equipment and the other engineering categories. An exporter selects the panel for its products and receives panel-specific services and event information.
