Coir Board RCMC Registration

The Coir Board is a statutory body set up by the Government of India under the Coir Industry Act, 1953, working under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. It promotes the coir industry — the fibre extracted from coconut husk and everything made from it — and issues the Registration-cum-Membership Certificate (RCMC) to exporters of coir and coir products. Its head office is at Coir House, M.G. Road, Kochi 682016, Kerala.

An exporter of coir fibre, coir yarn, mats and mattings, rugs, rubberised coir, geotextiles, coir pith or coir handicrafts needs the Coir Board RCMC to claim the benefits of the Foreign Trade Policy — EPCG, RoDTEP, duty drawback and the market development schemes — and to access the Board's own support for quality, training and marketing.

The RCMC is applied for on the DGFT e-RCMC common digital platform against the exporter's IEC, with the constitution documents, PAN, GST and Udyam registration uploaded and the fee paid online. As explained in CA Piyush Mittal's video, the Board's fee was ₹10,000 as registration and ₹8,000 for the RCMC — ₹18,000 plus 18% GST, about ₹21,240 — at the time of recording; confirm the current schedule before paying.

Membership brings financial assistance under the Board's export market development schemes, support for quality certification such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, training and technical assistance for registered coir units, marketing support at fairs, and the legal standing of a registered exporter who follows the Board's compliance framework.
