Registration, State licence or Central licence?
Turnover and activity decide it. Applying under the wrong category is the most common reason an application is rejected, so we confirm it before anything is filed.

Asked before every application.
Do I need FSSAI for a home kitchen or a cloud kitchen?
Yes. Any business that manufactures, processes, stores, distributes or sells food needs FSSAI registration or a licence. A home baker or a single cloud kitchen with turnover under ₹12 lakh takes Basic registration; above that, a State licence.
Which one do I need — registration, State licence or Central licence?
It depends on annual turnover and activity. Up to ₹12 lakh: Basic registration. ₹12 lakh to ₹20 crore in one state: State licence. Above ₹20 crore, or any import/export, e-commerce, multi-state or large-capacity operation: Central licence. We confirm the category before applying.
What does FSSAI cost?
Only the government fee: ₹100 a year for Basic registration, ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 a year for a State licence depending on category, and ₹7,500 a year for a Central licence. You can pay for 1 to 5 years at once. We do not charge a professional fee for FSSAI.
How long does it take?
Basic registration is usually granted within about 7 days. A State or Central licence takes 30 to 60 days, longer if the authority orders an inspection of a manufacturing unit.
What is the penalty for operating without FSSAI?
Carrying on a food business without registration or licence is punishable under Section 63 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 with imprisonment up to six months and a fine up to ₹5 lakh. Marketplaces and aggregators also delist sellers without a valid number.
Do I need a separate licence for each outlet?
Yes. Each premises needs its own registration or licence. A business with units in more than one state takes a Central licence for the head office and a State or Central licence for each unit.
