Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP)
Overview
RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products) is a government scheme launched on 1st January 2021 to refund hidden taxes and duties (like mandi tax, electricity duty, fuel surcharge) that are not covered under GST or other schemes.
It offers percentage-based duty credits (0.3% to 4.3%) through e-scrips on the ICEGATE portal, which can be used or transferred.
Exporters must ship through EDI-enabled ports and have a valid IEC.
RoDTEP replaces the MEIS scheme and is WTO-compliant, transparent, and digital—aimed at reducing export costs and improving liquidity, especially for MSMEs and manufacturers.
