PMFME (Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises)
Overview
Launched under Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan in 2020 for 5 years from 2020-21 to 2024-25, PMFME aims to increase and formalise existing micro-enterprises in the food processing industry, with a special focus on supporting Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), producers cooperatives, and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the agri-food processing sector.

Applicable For
- Micro food processing units in the unorganised sector
- Farmer Producer Organizations, cooperatives and SHGs engaged in food processing
Benefits
- Capital Subsidy for Upgrading Machinery: A credit-linked capital subsidy of 35% on the eligible project cost, with a maximum ceiling of ₹10 lakh per unit.
- Seed Capital for SHG Members: ₹40,000 per member of SHGs for working capital or small tools purchase.
- Branding and Marketing Support: 50% financial grant for branding and marketing support for FPOs, SHGs, and cooperatives.
- Training and Capacity Building: Offers training and education programs focusing on improving technical skills and management practices.
