Overview

The Electronic Hardware Technology Park (EHTP) Scheme was launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, to promote hardware exports from India, similar to the STPI scheme for software exports. It is administered through the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and is governed by provisions similar to the Export Oriented Unit (EOU) Scheme under the Foreign Trade Policy.

Objectives

  • Promote design, development, and manufacturing of electronic hardware for export purposes.
  • Attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in electronics manufacturing.
  • Encourage setting up of export-oriented units (EOUs) for electronic products.
  • Provide world-class infrastructure, duty-free imports, and regulatory flexibility to units engaged in electronic hardware production.

Eligibility Criteria

General Eligibility

  • Any entity engaged or proposing to engage in the manufacture and export of electronic hardware.
  • Must be a registered business in India (Proprietorship, Partnership, LLP, Private/Public Ltd. Company).
  • Intends to export 100% of production, with certain DTA (Domestic Tariff Area) limits.
  • Satisfies STPI norms of project feasibility, financial soundness, and technical capabilities.

Infrastructure Proof

  • Lease deed or property ownership documents
  • NOC from landlord if leased

Financial Documents

  • Promoter’s Net Worth Certificate (by CA)
  • Last 3 years ITRs/Audited Financials (if existing firm)

KYC

  • Director/Partner KYC
  • Board Resolution
  • DSC
7.Fee Payment: Non-refundable processing fee to STPI (₹5,000 – ₹25,000 depending on centre)

Activities Covered

  • Manufacturing/assembling of electronic hardware such as semiconductors, PCBs, mobile phones, tablets, LED lights, sensors, IoT devices, electric vehicle components, embedded systems.
  • Export of manufactured goods.
  • R&D and product development.
  • Creation of IP/technology for electronic goods.

Benefits

  • Duty-free imports of capital goods, raw materials, components, consumables, and packing materials.
  • 100% FDI allowed through the automatic route under FEMA.
  • GST/IGST refunds via supplies under LUT or refund of IGST.
  • DTA sales allowed up to 50% of FOB value of exports (with duty applicable).
  • Deemed export benefits for supplies to SEZ/EOU/STPI units.
  • Single window clearance through STPI for customs bonding, IEC, and project approval.
  • Infrastructure support including incubation space, common facilities, and testing labs at STPI parks.
