iDEX Open Challenge
Up to ₹1.5 crore SPARK grant · MoD / DIO · self-defined problem
The wildcard entry into defence innovation. Instead of solving a published problem statement, the startup proposes its own defence-relevant problem and solution. Winners receive a SPARK grant of up to ₹1.5 crore, milestone-based, plus access to the armed forces for validation.

The Defence India Start-up Challenge publishes problem statements from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Defence Space Agency; solvers win SPARK grants up to ₹1.5 crore. DISC-14, with 82 problem statements, launched on 19 March 2026. DISC winners graduate to iDEX PRIME grants of up to ₹10 crore.

Acing Development of Innovative Technologies with iDEX funds the deep, sensitive defence technologies that need far more than a SPARK grant. Up to 50% of the product development budget, capped at ₹25 crore per project. ADITI 4.0, with 25 problem statements, launched on 19 March 2026.

DRDO's fund for industry to develop defence technologies the Services have asked for. Project cost up to ₹50 crore, funded up to 90% as a grant. Open to companies of every form; DPIIT startups must be incubated at a government-assisted incubator. Applications accepted year-round.
